The new EP ‘Clouds’ is out now from the most imaginatively named duo in hip hop… Mole & Iris. Tired of their contemporaries sticking the last ten tunes they’ve made onto a CD and calling it a mix-tape, Mole & Iris approached ‘Clouds’ with the idea of making a proper EP that sits together as a cohesive whole.
The project showcases a wide variety of production styles and contains a range of lyrical content – ‘Mood Swings’ is a humourous yet genuine take on the unpredictable ups and downs of the volatile human mind, and sees the duo trading bars over a progressive sounding banger from the beat machine that is Evil Sun.
A track with potential for crossover success is the track ‘Great Expectations’ with a real standout beat from Tom Caruana and featuring Dr. Syntax, which sees all three MCs giving their own personal take on the perssures of striving to achieve their hopes and dreams.
Despite the diversity of the beats and the subject matter explored, the EP is glued together by the consistently honest and passionate delivery of Mole and Iris. Their contrasting styles compliment each other well and you can tell they’ve spent time honing their craft at open mics, battles and live shows.
‘Clouds’ has been getting airplay from Simpson on The Dugout Hip Hop Radio Show and Excalibah on his Pyroradio show, plus this month’s Hip Hop Connection Magazine features the track ‘Great Expectations’ in their worldwide top 10 chart.
